Going to council Monday night - a donation that could encourage people to live in Rock Island.

A $10,000  contribution to Renaissance Rock Island's 'Employer Assisted Housing Program' is being considered.

The money will provide down payment and closing cost support to Arsenal employees looking to buy a home in Rock Island.

The donation would come from the city's gaming funds.

"It's a great benefit for employees on the arsenal and it's another tool in our toolbox that we have to promote rock island as a great place to live work and play,” says Brian Hollenback, Renaissance Rock Island President.

Since 2007, the program has provided more than $170,000 of housing help to Arsenal employees.
