It was a race for the adventurous today in East Moline, as athletes competing in Taming of the Slough made their way through land and water.
The 6th annual triathlon event included kayaking, mountain biking, and running.
Organizers said the event is so popular because of its variety.
"I think it's the fun of an adventure race, first of all. The fact that we have so many good areas for paddling in the Quad Cities," said Kathy Wine, head of River Action.
This is the 6th year Taming of the Slough has been held.
