Woman dedicated to others needs community's help

A Rock Island woman --  who makes it her mission to care for others -- is now in need of the community's help.

Mandy Puebla is a social worker for the Rock Island - Milan School District who is now in the hospital.

According to friends and family Puebla is always the first person to help others.

That's why when she saw a need in the Rock Island - Milan School District for a resource room she jumped right into action.

Her love and support for the students at the district is what makes her this week's Local 4's Finest.

Amanda Puebla saw a need in the Rock Island - Milan School District for a resource center for kids to come and take what they need.

She has been working on this project for the last several months and the room is now filled with hundreds of supplies including clothing, hygiene products and other items.

"We were talking about the fact that we have so many students in need of things and of resources and we were able to provide those resources by reaching out to the community," said Jessica Matherly, Rock Island High School English teacher.

School psychologist Don Palm added:"And then it became obvious that they needed things like diapers and they needed clothes to wear and food so Amanda being the problem solver she is kind of put something together that would meet that need."

Her friends say Puebla is one of the most caring and compassionate people they know.
Always willing to help those in need.

"Just know how fantastic she is, how great she is with the students at rock island high school how much she cares and just how she is able to fullfil the needs that people have," said Matherly.

About two weeks ago Puebla fell from some stairs onto the concrete resulting in a severe brain injury.

"She fractured her skull and that fracture starts just about her left eye and goes to the back to the back middle part of her brain," Palm said.

This is their way of asking the community to give back to a woman who has worked so hard to help said community

If you are interested in donating to the resource center you can drop donations off at the high school.

You can also donate to the YouCaring page for Amanda.
