103 MPH in a 55 MPH zone leads to arrest

A Sterling man was arrested for driving almost twice the speed limit earlier this week in Whiteside County.

A Whiteside County deputy conducted a traffic stop on Moline Road near the Yorktown Road intersection Monday afternoon around 3:45 p.m.

Patrick W. Grassnickle, 32, was arrested for speeding, traveling 103 MPH in a 55 MPH zone.

Grassnickle was transported to the sheriff’s office where he was processed and released on a notice to appear. 

The vehicle was removed from the scene by Todd’s Towing out of Prophetstown.
