Four hundred athletes filled the district in downtown Rock Island to workout in the summer sun.

The second annual Urban Street Games brought together 100 teams to compete in CrossFit-like workouts. Forty-five hundred dollars worth of prizes were awarded to the best of the best.

Although CrossFit Inc. competitions are held all over the nation, sponsors say this family-friendly event is unique.

"We have the Mississippi River right here," said Kyle Peters, owner of Daiquiri Factory and host of the event. "We can do canoeing, we have a bike path and a walk path that we can run up and down. You can't make those things; you can't buy them. You have to be located here in the Quad Cities ... and that's important for us. Having Schwiebert Park and the daiquiri, and everything downtown -- it's great."
