A couple more hot and muggy days this week are coupled with the chance for strong storms

Storms Thursday night will put an end to the hot weather for a short spell

QUAD CITIES - The heat and the humidity has been hanging around the Quad Cities all through the holiday weekend and the first part of the week. It isn't likely to go anywhere anytime soon either.

High temperatures will be in the upper 80s and lower 90s for Wednesday and Thursday with the head index closer to the mid 90s. Warm, moist air from southern winds will keep it steamy in the Mississippi Valley. A cold front will finally push through Thursday night and this will bring relief but also storms.

Models are not completely consistent as to how strong these storms will be or how well organized they will stay. The risk of severe weather is low at this point but the best chance for these storms does come in the overnight hours Thursday.

Dry air rushes in behind this system so Friday and Saturday look much more comfortable with dew points getting below 60 and highs in the mid and lower 80s.
