BETTENDORF, Iowa -
A bunch of runners crossed the Mississippi river twice Thursday for a good cause.
Bettendorf city staff joined members of the police force for the annual torch run. About 25 runners started at Bettendorf's police station. They ran across the Arsenal Bbridge into Rock Island before crossing back onto the Centennial Bridge into Davenport.
They were running to support Special Olympics Iowa.
George Ramos ran and says there's a reason he's been doing it for more than two decades.
"I have a brother he's a year older than I am. If these had been around at that time where we lived, he could have enjoyed the things that these athletes get to enjoy now," Ramos said.
The event raised about $2,000 dollars for the cause.
