Kids are out of school

But on Monday, they went mad for science.

As part of the Rock Island Library summer reading program, kids got a chance to do hands–on science experiments.

The free performance included rocket launching and fire breathing all to spark kid's interest in science.

"I'm showing them educational stuff, you know and they probably think education is boring but they can see that education can be fun too," said Chris Lopez, mad scientist.

The Rock Island Library's 'Paws to Read' summer reading program features free performances throughout the summer.
