Bettendorf hires new city attorney

Lane & Waterman partner starts July 1

BETTENDORF, Iowa - The City of Bettendorf announced the hire of Christopher J. Curran as its new city attorney.

"We are excited to have Chris join our team," Bettendorf mayor Bob Gallagher said. "The city has been very fortunate throughout the years to have great legal advisors and we know Chris will be a perfect fit when he takes over the city's legal responsibilities."

Curran fills the position made available when current city attorney Kristine Stone accepted a job at Ahlers & Cooney law firm in Des Moines, Iowa.

Curran joined Lane & Waterman LLP after receiving his law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1997. He has been a partner at Lane & Waterman LLP for many years, focusing on a wide variety of corporate, real estate, intellectual property and transactional matters.

Curran, who will begin his duties July 1, lives in Bettendorf with his wife and two sons. Sheri Curran is general counsel at Augustana College.
