Bikers for Backpacks

Rock Island, Illinois - Dozens of motorcycle riders spent their Sunday collecting school supplies for Rock Island/Milan School District kids.

This is the third year One Marine One Life is hosting Bikers for Backpacks  The cost to ride in this event was a backpack full of supplies

The event began this morning at Kavanaughs Hilltop Tavern. From there they rode to Rapids City, Erie, Milan and Adalusia and backpacks were collected in each stop.

Their final stop was the back to school celebration at Schwiebert Park. Organizers tell us about forty-five hundred kids will benefit from these backpacks

"Get them the things they need, they can't be successful if they don't have pencils and pens and everything else." Says Chris Elsberg, "Backpacks, I mean it's very important and it's one of those things that not every kid is fortunate to get"

The organization will be hosting two more rides later this month and those will benefit other school districts around the Quad Cities
