BURLINGTON, Iowa - Two Burlington police officers were cleared Thursday in the shooting death of Marquis Jones.
Special Assistant Attorney General Scott Brown concluded that the actions of officer Chris Chiprez and officer Joshua Riffel were objectively reasonable under the circumstances and Chiprez’ use of deadly force on Jones was justified under the laws of the State of Iowa.
Both officers remain employed by the City of Burlington and are expected to return to full duty in the near future.
The City of Burlington released the body camera videos from Chiprez and Riffel and the dash camera video from the officers’ patrol vehicle.
Warning: The contents of the videos are disturbing and contain graphic language.
Those videos can be found on the City of Burlington's website.
