Breakfast fundraiser to curb animal abuse

Animal Advocacy group hosts their annual

MILAN, Illinois - AAVENGE (Animal Abuse and Violence Ends Now through Greater Enforcement) an animal abuse advocacy group and the Rock Island High School Key Club teamed up to help local dogs on Sunday.
The organization hosted their annual Pancakes for Pitties breakfast event.
Organizers say the funds raised go to various rescue organizations that help abused, neglected and homeless dogs.
The organization also helps individuals who don't have enough money to pay for their dog's medical expenses.
"We helped a local gentleman who had a disability. His dog needed heartworm pills, a heartworm test, needed to get his shots updated, had an ear infection, and we paid for him to go to the vet and get all that taken care of," says AAVENGE president Cindy VanLandegen.
Last year the group raised $2,000 but organizers say this year they'll have a lot more.
