Bridges Catering sees a boost in business

A year after buying the Stern Center owners have increased their staff

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - After being shot down by Rock Island City Council with bidding on the Hauberg Center, owners of Bridges Catering Company accepted offers to buy the Stern Center in April of 2016. Since then owner Bill Healy said business has been booming. He said moving the business from Princeton, Iowa to Rock Island has made it more convenient for clients. Although Rock Island City Council decided to remove the item from the agenda last year, Healy said they are happy with their second option. He said they have even had to increase their staffing to adjust to the bump in business, and they have created much needed tax revenue.

About 80% of our business is within a 10 mile radius, transportation and meeting clients, being able to do interviews, having meetings, it takes a lot of burden off of our customers," Healy said. "Asking our customers for taste tests to drive out to Princeton, Iowa interviews, meetings anything, it is a big challenge bringing food to numerous places, it really cuts down on that as well."

As for changing the name, Healy said they plan to keep the Stern Center as is because it's so well known.
