Chelsea Raker pleads guilty in homicide case

Raker enters a guilty plea to an armed robbery charge

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois - Chelsea Raker of Ohio entered a guilty plea Friday to a lesser charge for the death of 15-year-old Jescie Armstrong in April 2016.

The 22-year-old was facing two murder charges, but through a plea deal, Raker will be guilty of armed robbery.

With a firearms enhancement, it will carry a prison sentence of 26 to 45 years.

Rock Island County State's Attorney John McGehee said, "One of the most serious charges that can be filed against a defendant. So what happens when someone discharges a firearm at the time of an action, 20 years is added onto the sentence."

Raker, along with Trey Gustafson and Kire Carr, were charged with the murder of Armstrong.

Raker's case was scheduled for trial next week.

According to the Rock Island County State's Attorney, the three defendants went to Armstrong's house to buy marijuana, with both Carr and Raker bringing guns.

Raker is scheduled to be sentenced on January 17, 2018.

Gustafson was also in court this morning and will have his next hearing Oct. 27.
