CLINTON, Iowa - A post on Instagram sent Clinton Police officers into action Thursday night.
Around 9:30 p.m., officers from the Clinton Police Department investigated a report of a threatening post made on the social media app. The posts were directed towards the safety of students and staff of Clinton High School, to occur on Friday.
Investigators and School Resource Officers from the Clinton Police Department immediately responded to investigate the postings.
The Clinton Police Department worked closely with the administrative staff of the Clinton Community School District on this investigation. Within three hours of the threat, officers identified the source of the Instagram post and determined the threat was not credible.
The Clinton Police Department would like to thank the community for all the assistance and information provided to law enforcement during this investigation, which ultimately led to a quick resolution to the threats made on social media.
