Clinton store owner injured with pickaxe

Officers say a woman went into a Clinton shop and started swinging a pickaxe

CLINTON, Iowa - Clinton Police were called to Gazebo Antiques & Collectibles around 3 P.M. on Friday for a woman assaulting a business owner with a pickaxe.

Officers say Cassandra Doran, 25, went into the store, grabbed a pickaxe and started swinging it around, breaking items inside the store.

Police say the woman hit the store owner multiple times with the pickaxe, causing serious injury. The owner was taken to a local hospital.

Police say Doran tried to flee, but someone at the business next door tackled and held her until police arrived.

Officers say while investigating, they found Doran did damage to another building and vehicle on Main Avenue right before going to Gazebo Antiques & Collectibles.

Doran has been charged with willful injury causing serious injury, third-degree burglary and three counts of second-degree criminal mischief.

Friends and family of the store owners have started a GoFundMe page to help them pay for medical bills and store damages.
