New housing could be coming to the Rock Island Arsenal if the President signs a bill passed today by Congress.
The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) includes $20 million for 38 new housing units on the Island, as well as a firing range project for the Illinois Army National Guard in Sparta.
The bill, which passed in the Senate by a vote of 70 to 27, also includes $978.7 million for the construction of 12 Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornets that will be manufactured in St. Louis at a plant that employees 2000 Illinois workers.
The NDAA now heads to the President's desk for his signature.
