Costco is coming to Davenport

Davenport, Iowa - Davenport City Council voted unanimously in favor of building Costco in the city.

A few months ago city of davenport planning and zoning commission proposed rezoning about 18 acres at the intersection of Elmore and East 53rd Street.

The new Costco whole sale warehouse would consist of a 156,000 square foot building as well as a 16 vehicle gas station.

Neighbors in the area were unhappy with the proposed location. They say 53rd and Elmore is already too busy without the added cars heading to Costco.

However, after hearing the arguments, council still voted in favor of the location and the access points to the store.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
