Captain Brent Biggs statement comes after report of Iowa's rape kit backlog

DAVENPORT, Iowa - Davenport Police say they are working to create a new tracking system for sexual assault cases.

Captain Brent Biggs released a statement today.

It comes a day after Iowa's attorney general addressed a statewide backlog of more than 4,200 rape kits.

Biggs says the department has been constantly reviewing their protocol for the past year and, "the criminal investigation division is establishing a comprehensive case tracking system which includes case review and consultation with the Scott County Attorney's office specifically regarding sexual assault cases."
