Davenport police given free breakfast as part of National Police Week

Meals served by staff at Runge Mortuary and Crematory

DAVENPORT, Iowa - Davenport police were thanked for their service with a free breakfast in davenport Tuesday.

Eggs, bacon, biscuits, gravy and hash browns were all on the menu. Dishes were served at Runge Mortuary and Crematory on East Kimberly Road near Brady Street. All officers were encouraged to stop in and visit. They could also grab a plate to go.

"They always have our back, they're always there to back us up. So we wanted to show the guys that we appreciate all the hard work that they do," said Runge Mortuary and Crematory Spokesperson Yolanda Morgan.

The event is part of National Police Week which began in 1962 with a proclamation signed by John F. Kennedy who at the time was serving as President of the United States.
