Dive team searches for man missing in Mississippi River

MOLINE, Ill - The Quad City Dive Team is searching for a man who jumped into the Mississippi River Tuesday  night to save his child.

The 6-year old boy fell into the water around 8:45 P.M. at the 55th Street boat landing.

A 17-year old who was nearby jumped in to help the child and his father, but was only able to rescue the boy.

Boats from the Moline, East Moline, Bettendorf and Rock Island Arsenal all searched for the man.

The Moline Fire Department says the search has now become a recovery operation.
