Pups filled the pool at Bettendorf's Splash Landing Sunday for the fifth annual Doggy Splash event.
There were three different time slots for residents to bring their furry friends to the pool. Each slot was allotted for a different size dog.
The event is put on every year before the pool closes down for the season. Organizers say the overjoyed dogs and the dog parents are always the best part of the experience.
"I think it's the people's reactions to their dogs," said the head of Crow Creek Dog Park Kathy Behncke. "Katie, who is helping out today from the life fitness center, says it's just like when little kids are in swimming lessons. The parents are coaching the dogs and trying to get them in the water and clapping when they go off the diving board, it's so fun."
the event does charge, but is not a huge fundraiser for the dog park. Instead, it's the fun of the event that keeps the organizers doing it.
