Driver faces charges after train crash

WARREN COUNTY, Illinois - A Monmouth man was injured when his pickup truck was hit by a train.

The crash happened on 110th street at 180th Avenue just east of Monmouth, IL at approximately 11:00 P.M. Tuesday night.

Illinois State Police say 24 year-old Michael Goodell failed to stop at a stop sign above the intersection, went into a ditch, up an embankment, and came to rest with its front end partially on the tracks.

An eastbound Burlington Northern train then struck Goodell's truck.

He was taken to a Peoria hospital with serious injuries.

Goodell now faces several charges, including operating an uninsured vehicle, and driving under the influence.
