Driver killed in crash on I-74

Illinois State Police say a man was pronounced dead on the scene

ROCK ISLAND COUNTY - Illinois State Police say a man was killed in a crash Saturday on westbound Interstate 74 near milepost 5.

They say a car left the roadway and went into the center median.

The police say the car overcorrected, crossed both westbound lanes and went into the ditch.

The car came to a complete stop after hitting a tree.

Authorities say the driver, Benjamin Manoa, 26, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Two passengers, Emanuel Kitulo, 22, and David Kitulo, 18, were airlifted to a hospital in Peoria with life threatening injuries.

Another passenger, Safi Kitulo, 21, was taken to a hospital in Silvis for non-life threatening injuries.

Everyone in the car is from Grand Rapids, Michigan.
