DAVENPORT, Iowa. - Local families celebrated Earth Day at the public library Saturday.
Kids got to try out a variety of earth day-related activities, including designing and decorating clay pots.
They were given seeded plants to grow inside those new pots.
Kids could also make their own bird feeders.
Coordinators say it's a great opportunity to learn about gardening and get outdoors.
"It's fun. It gets a lot of people out. It gives them something to do, a nice free activity to bring home a lot of different flowers and plants that they can then plant in their own yard, or bird feeders they can hang up," said Youth Services Librarian Christie Wood.
Library staff say they hope to get kids excited about gardening, and maybe inspired them to grow their own plants at home.
