An escaped inmate from the Iowa State Penitentiary was caught Sunday in Illinois

Update: Justin Kestner was captured south of Geneseo, Illinois, around 9:55 a.m. Sunday, according to an official with the Iowa State Penitentiary.  

Fort Madison, Iowa is about 110 miles away from Geneseo, Illinois.

An inmate has escaped from The Iowa State Penitentiary Sunday morning.

Offender Justin Kestner #6488594 was last seen at 1:30 a.m. during count.  He was discovered missing at a 4:45 a.m. count.  

Kestner is serving a 10 year sentence from Woodbury County for two counts of Theft First Degree.

Kestner is a 25 year old male Caucasian, 6’0” tall, 172 Lbs. Brown Eyes and Brown Hair. Tattoos: Left Arm, Left Calf, Right Calf, Left Hand and Right Hand.

Any information of Kestner’s whereabouts should be called to 911.
