Families participate in the annual Great Pumpkin Drop

Museum organizers say it's a fun of getting rid of old Jack O' Lanterns

BETTENDORF, Iowa - Families in Bettendorf, Iowa are getting rid of their old Jack O' Lanterns in a fun way.
The family museum held their annual Great Pumpkin Drop Saturday morning.
More than 100 pumpkins were dropped from the second floor of the museum to an audience waiting below. Volunteers, parents, and kids all say they had a fun time.
Organizers say the kids do a lot more than just watch those pumpkins being dropped.
"The kids get to pick the name for their pumpkins, and they put their name on the pumpkin as well so the volunteers upstairs will read those aloud as they're dropping the pumpkins and they get to chose if they want to drop the pumpkins face first, bottoms first," says organizer Carissa Dewaele.
The museum's next event is the winter fest on December 3rd.
