Firefighter injured in Rock Island house fire

Cause undetermined

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - One firefighter is in the hospital after battling a house fire early Sunday morning. 
 
Rock Island Fire Department and Rock Island Arsenal Fire Department responded to a house fire at 1316 15th St. in Rock Island just after 4 a.m. They were on scene for several hours. 
 
Fire department had been told there could have been someone trapped. When they arrived the gentleman had gotten out of the house along with two pets. There were no injuries to the residents. 
 
One firefighter taken to Unity Point Trinity Rock Island. His exact condition has not been released, but they are expecting him to return to service shortly. 
 
There was extensive damage, and the residents will not be able to return for the foreseeable future. The cause is undetermined at this time. The America Red Cross was also on scene to assist the residents.
