First below freezing temperatures of the season expected this weekend

Growing season ends with freeze this weekend

QUAD CITIES - After highs made it into the lower 70s Thursday we've been brought back to reality pretty quickly on Friday.  Today temperatures have been hovering near 40° with winds making it feel like it's in the upper 20s.

Saturday will be cold and blustery too and then skies clear later Saturday.  That paves the way for our first freeze of the season.  By Sunday morning the mercury falls to the middle 20s and our growing season will be over for 2017.

The normal high and low right now are 60 and 39 but it will take a while for temperatures to return to normal levels.

Most of next week will be chilly, but not quite as cold as Sunday morning.  Temps will be below freezing from just after midnight Saturday night until about 9 a.m. Sunday.
