FIRST Tech Challenge robotics competition in Davenport

DAVENPORT, Iowa - Students from across the Hawkeye State battled it out with robots at Davenport North High School on Saturday.
It's part of the First Tech Challenge Super Qualifier.
Students spend weeks developing a robot to meet this year's game challenge.
Aside from meeting the criteria, students must also get involved in the community by conducting STEM outreach.
Organizers say students learn valuable skills such as teamwork, conflict resolution, marketing and public speaking.
Students say win or lose, it's an experience other students should take advantage of.
"This event gives us amazing opportunities, especially for our futures. We get so many professional opportunities and a chance to meet people from across the community and maybe later on across the world," says Davenport West High School student  Alyssa Rodriguez.
"I learned a lot of core value skills, and it's really beneficial to participate in something like this cause it prepares me in what I'm doing after high school," says Pleasant Valley sophomore Max Broussalian.

Out of the 24 teams participating today, 16 will advance to the State Competition.
That will be February 24th in Coralville, IA.
