Genesis Health is adding more beds for children and tens in their mental health facility.
The West Central Park location is getting five more beds on Tuesday.
The new mental health units will feature state-of-the-art safety measures.
Genesis representatives say having these beds available for teens is important and will let them better help people with mental illnesses.
"The sooner you get somebody in a setting where they can be treated, where they can learn to understand their illness better, how to cope with it, how to identify when they're in trouble and they need the help, the better. So if that happens at childhood or adolescence I think that's always a better outcome," said Jeffery Wyeneth, Genesis Behavioral Health Department chair.
"It fills a great need, unfortunately there's been individuals that have had to go elsewhere for child and adolescent need and we feel confident opening up this five bed unit is a great start," said Jordan Voigt, Genesis Medical Center Davenport president.
The addition of the five beds will help Genesis move towards their goal of 60 beds by July 2017.
