Governor Rauner says rural communities need attention

Rural areas key to Illinois' economy

SPRINGFIELD, Ill - Governor Bruce Rauner says rural communities need more attention to help grow the state's economy.

At the Institute of Rural Affairs Conference Wednesday, Rauner told the crowd farms and agricultural businesses are important to pushing the state's economy forward.

The conference also focused on sharing ideas and strategies to improve education and economic development in rural areas.

About twenty people from across the state spoke at the conference.
