Rock Island is breaking ground on seven more townhomes.

The Rock Island Economic Growth corporation is spending $1.8 million on a project in the Garden District near the Jackson Square Apartments and the Quad City Botanical Center.

The homes will be designed for families with prices starting around $150,000.

"We believe will be attractive to those families with children or planning on raising a family," said Growth Developer, Brian Hollenback. "Right across the street from the children's garden at the botanical center, the bike path, Schwiebert Park, the river. There are so many things here we really hope to attract families."

In addition to the townhomes, the project includes a dog park, a children's playground and a picnic area for homeowners. Construction is expected to be  completed in 12 months.
