A local coalition for special education is looking for help building a playground.

The Black Hawk Area Special Education District needs $255,000 for the project. Its a specialized playground that features a unique surface. The surface prevents injuries from falling and also prevents choking hazards.

"Right now we have a playground that has been here historically for years, it is accessible to some of the students but we also have a lot of students next door who have severe physical disabilities. So it will be able to be handicap accessible as far as wheel chairs go," said Christan Schrader, Black Hawk Area Special Education District Director.

Sponsors of the project will get a plaque and be recognized at the ribbon cutting for the playground. Donations can be mailed directly to the district.

You can find more information at the Black Hawk Area Special Education District's website.
