Holocaust survivor visits the Quad Cities

Doris Fogel will also be at Augustana Monday

DAVENPORT, Iowa - Several people took time to remember a dark chapter of history Sunday evening.

The Jewish Federation of the Quad Cities and Temple Emmanuel hosted their annual Yom Hashoah event.

It's a yearly program to remember the Holocaust. The even'ts keynote speaker was Doris Fogel. She's a Holocaust survivor herself, who fled from Germany to China in 1939.

The Jewish Federation's executive director Allan Ross says although the Jewish community put it together, everyone is welcome to attend.

"It's an interfaith, and inter community event every year. We bring leaders from throughout the community together to learn the lessons of the Holocaust so we hopefully will prevent further holocausts from happening," Ross said.

Fogel will be speaking again Monday evening. That's part of Augustana College's annual talk by a Holocaust survivor.

You can catch her at 7 p.m. in the Denkmann Memorial Building.
