DAVENPORT, Iowa - Bridge work is making it a little tricky to get from I-80 to I-74.
The exit to I-74 from Westbound I-80 will be closed through August.
Right now, drivers have a few options to get around, including a detour that's been set up by the Iowa Department of Transportation.
The ramp closure may cause some headaches for people driving into the Quad Cities who get on Interstate 74 from Westbound Interstate 80, but nearby shop owners aren't too concerned about losing business.
Computer Evolution Owner Brian Handley says he's not too worried about losing business.
"It's probably not going to affect it too terribly much. There's a lot of traffic up here all times of the day and night. People are going to not avoid it because of that. They know that up there's always going to be a lot of traffic and they just kind of know to deal with it," said Handley.
Keith Winterle is a manager at nearby Rogan's Shoes.
He agrees traffic may cause headaches, but he doesn't think they'll lose business.
"People want to come to this area for all the different shopping around this area, that they'll take that extra couple of minutes to that it will take to get here," said Winterle.
Rhythm City Casino is one of the closest businesses to the I-74 exit.
General Manager Mo Hyder says there's many ways to get to the casino, and he thinks customers will be willing to take the detour.
Drivers can take the exit to U.S. 61 or Welcome Way. From there drivers should then quickly exit again onto I-80 and take the I-74 exit.
Drivers also have the option of going down U.S. 61 or Welcome Way and using 53rd Street to get to I-74.
That means getting through the busy business area near 53rd Street and Elmore Avenue.
Handley and Winterle encourage drivers to be cautious this summer.
"Slow down a little bit because if it is going to be a little busier. Just slow down a little bit. Traffic runs smoothly through the intersection here, and Elmore isn't usually that busy, so I think everybody will be fine," said Winterle.
"There could be delays and extra traffic up here, and try to keep your cool because up here, we've seen a lot of road rage and some accidents and things like that," said Handley.
Transportation officials say the ramp will be closed until mid-August if there aren't any weather delays.
There will also be lane closures on I-80 in Davenport.
One lane will be closed in both directions near the exit to I-74 as crews work on the overpass.
Those take place overnight from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Friday.
