Lawmakers in Illinois are considering changing the age parents can legally leave their kids at home.
Right now, the law says 14.
That's one of the highest in the country.
Parents can be punished if caught leaving a 13 year old or young home alone. It's defined as neglect and could mean jail time.
But now Illinois state leaders are considering changing the law to age 10 to leave kids home alone.
The bill was introduced in July and is still being considered.
