Ilinois State Police release NITE patrol numbers

Enforcement numbers from Henry County

EAST MOLINE, Ill - Illinois State Police made 15 arrests and issued 40 written warnings in Henry County in the month of February.

ISP District 7 Commander Captain Victor Markowski says the the Nighttime Enforcement patrol (NITE) allows officers to focus on preventing, detecting, and taking action against drivers hitting the road while impaired. ISP officers enacted the NITE patrols between 9:00 p.m and 6:00 a.m. in Henry County. 

Officers also were also checking to make sure drivers and passengers were wearing seat belts. 

In the month of February, NITE patrol officers issued two citations for DUI, three citations for other drug or alcohol violations, two seat belt offenses, two registration offenses, four driver's license offenses, and five insurance violations. Officers also issued 40 written warnings. 

Markowski says more than half of all fatal crashes in Illinois happen at night.  The NITE program is funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
