Iowa Governor Terry Branstad said no to the deal that would have given schools more money.

The governor signed several budget bills today, including one providing $3 billion for primary education. But, he vetoed the one-time supplemental agreement of $56 million.

It's a big blow to the local school districts like Davenport. Davenport's Superintendent has already threatened to break state law by dipping into reserves.
