An Iowa Supreme Court ruling has cleared the way for a baseball complex to be built at the “Field of Dreams” site in Dyersville.
Friday’s ruling upholds a lower court decision that the City Council acted properly when it rezoned the property from agricultural to commercial use.
That move paved the way for the development of a 24-field youth baseball and softball complex where the popular 1989 movie was filmed. Petitioners feared the complex would disrupt farm operations and traffic.
Friday’s opinion says the council “weighed all the information, reports and comments available to it in order to determine whether rezoning was in the best interest of the city as a whole.”
