DAVENPORT, Iowa - While we could still see some snow in March and April (and even May), it's spring now. Winter is officially over!
It was very spring-like early this morning with thunderstorms north. east, and southeast of the Quad Cities.
We saw plenty of lightning in and around the metro area, but we missed out on measurable rain.
At one point in the overnight hours, there were more than 3,000 lightning strikes across northern Illinois in a five-minute period.
Additionally, large hail was reported in several hometowns, including Galesburg. We had reports there of ping pong and golf ball size hail and the ground was covered by hail around 1 a.m.
Later this week, Thursday afternoon through Saturday morning, we'll have another system bring showers and storms. On Friday, we could hit 70° and see some strong to severe storms.
