A LeClaire organization is helping the flood victims in Louisiana.

The LeClaire Civic Club started accepting donations over the last week to send south. It's collecting money, food and other materials for the recovery effort in Louisiana.

The group put together a similar effort after Hurricane Katrina. Organizers are happy to see the support coming from the community.

"The members here some of them said, "Well, gee I don't know are we going to have enough stuff' and this and that, but then you see in two, three days time it just keeps going and keeps going and keeps going. I'm very happy with what's going on," said Civic Club member Dan Morrell.

The Civic Club will keep taking donations through the end of the month at the LeClaire location and other locations throughout the Quad Cities.

It plans to send the first shipment to Louisiana next week.
