Police are asking for the public's help in finding out who damaged LeClaire's Freedom Rock.

Officers were called to the memorial last night after someone noticed that three of its decorative lighted rocks were damaged.

The rocks appear to have been run over with a vehicle.  One large rock was shoved across the memorial, scraping some of the bricks in the base.

The main section of the memorial, the Freedom Rock, is a 15,000 pound boulder that was placed on the LeClaire levee in June of 2014.  The mural depicts soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines and even includes the ashes of U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Nathan Cox who was killed while serving in Afghanistan.

The Freedom Rock itself was not damaged.

If you have any information about who damaged the memorial you are asked to call the LeClaire Police Department at 563-289-4242 x 1.
