Periods of heavy rain from frequent showers and thunderstorms this month are causing area rivers to rise.  Some are nearing or surpassing flood stage.

Officially, 7.15" of rain has already fallen in the Quad Cities at Moline in August and that's about three inches above average.

People living on the Mississippi River near Gladstone and Keithsburg, Illinois, and Burlington, Iowa, are watching the river closely as it nears flood stage.

Flooding is already occurring to the east on the Illinois River at La Salle.  It's already 1.4 feet above flood stage and this will affect parts of Bureau County.
