Luncheon raises money for homeless veterans

DAVENPORT, Iowa - Some Quad Citians are stepping up to raise funds for homeless veterans.
Christian Care in Rock Island and Humility of Mary hosted their 5th annual "Have a Heart for the Homeless" luncheon.
It raises funds for both organizations.
People enjoyed a meal and entertainment.
Christian Care provides housing for veterans and others in need.
A group spokesperson says the fundraiser helps keep their doors open.
"We help them find employment, complete their education if that's a need, as well as providing case management and referral services to the community to help them if they have a mental health diagnosis or they have a substance abuse issue," says outreach coordinator Pam Hauman.
Chapters of Modern Woodmen of America are helping out by matching up to $7,500.
Christian Care is currently housing more than 30 people.
Organizers say they're always in need of volunteers and donations.
