Around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 3rd, the Jo Daviess County Sheriff's office responded to called for a crashed motorcycle near the 6900 block of S. Derinda Road in Elizabeth, Illinois.

Police say 56-year-old Gilbert Povilaitis of Rock Falls, Illinois was riding south-bound when his motorcycle veered off the road and onto the gravel shoulder.  He then lost control and landed in a ditch located on the west side of the roadway. 

Povilaitis was picked up by Elizabeth Ambulance but later transferred to a helicopter and airlifted to Rockford, Illinois.  

The accident remains under investigation.  Povilaitis' condition is unknown at this time.
