Man arrested on arson, burglary charges

A man has been arrested on arson and burglary charges after an incident Friday.

Jessie J. Bowman, 24, of Stronghurst, Illinois, was arrested on Monday, Henderson County Sheriff Steven Haynes announced.

According to the sheriff, Bowman allegedly entered an unoccupied residence in Oquawka that has been under construction for remolding in Oquawka in the late evening Friday.

Once in the building, Bowman started a fire, causing damage damage to the building.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Oquawka Police Department.

Burglary and arson are both Class 2 felonies, which carries 3-7 years in prison and up to $25,000 in fines. 

Bowman is currently in the Henderson County Jail on $25,000 bond with a court appearance pending.
