Moline woman arrested for filing false report after sexual assault allegations against trooper

A Moline woman was arrested for disorderly conduct in connection with what Illinois State Police are calling a false police report against a trooper.

Zabina Buchanan, 44, was stopped April 14 by an Illinois State trooper for traveling the wrong way on a one way street in Moline and was subsequently arrested for DUI.

According to police, during her arrest and when she arrived at the Rock Island County Jail, Buchanan made numerous sexual assault allegations against the trooper. The Illinois State Police initiated an investigation into the allegations and determined the trooper was falsely accused.

The case was presented to the Rock Island County State’s Attorney Office, who approved a one count
charge of disorderly conduct against Buchanan, a Class 4 felony.

Illinois State Police arrested Buchanan today without incident.

“Integrity is one of the ISP’s core values. Any allegations of misconduct against our officers are taken
very seriously,” said ISP District 7 Commander, Captain Victor Markowski. “When someone decides
to make false accusations and file a false police report against a member of the ISP, they will be held
accountable and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
