More doctors are practicing in Iowa.

According to a new report, over 6800 doctors worked in Iowa last year.

That's up two percent from 2012

The state still has fewer doctors per capita than the national average

And there is a shortage in some medical specialties and rural regions.

Both the state and federal government have encouraged doctors to move to rural Iowa, including incentives such as repaying student loans and offering visas.
