A down oil market is causing more layoffs at a Camanche, Iowa steel plant.
Forty-three employees at the plant have received layoff notices.
A TMK IPSCO spokesman tells Local 4 News that the plant will be temporarily idled. The 43 workers pink-slipped are the majority of employees at the Camanche facility.
The company makes steel pipe for oil drilling operations and the spokesman says lower gas and oil prices are reducing demand for that pipe.
IPSCO hopes to resume operations when market conditions improve.
